I write to understand things, not to explain things I already understand. Most posts start from a question I couldn't answer cleanly — and work through it in public, without pretending to have arrived at a final answer.

What this is

Rob's Blog is built around two ideas: first principles and critical thinking. First principles means stripping a problem down to what you actually know, rather than inheriting someone else's framing. Critical thinking means treating your own conclusions with the same skepticism you'd apply to anyone else's.

The format

Posts are Q&A-driven. Instead of essay prose, I break each piece into the questions that actually structure the thinking — the ones worth asking before reaching for an answer.
